CPU Naming
The general naming scheme that AMD and Intel use.
AMD CPU Naming[edit]
- AMD CPU NAMING SUFFIXES
- MOBILE
U = Ultra Low power; used by thin & light laptops H = High performance; used by gaming laptops & workstations HX = same as above but with higher TDP & higher clocks overall HS = same as above but power limited to 35w
- DESKTOP
G = Includes integrated GPU X = higher TDP and higher clocks overall
Intel CPU Naming[edit]
- Intel CPU NAMING SUFFIXES
- MOBILE
U = Ultra low power; used by average consumer laptops G = same as above but with significantly better integrated graphics (iris), suffix indicates the performance of the iGPU (G1<G5<G7) H = high performance; used by gaming laptops & workstations HF = same as above but without iGPU, unsuitable for portable laptops due continuous battery drain
- DESKTOP
F = no iGPU for lower price K = overclockable & unlocked desktop CPU KF = same as above but without iGPU KS = same as above but better binned (can run higher clock speeds for same or lower power) X = made for enthusiasts; very expensive, overclockable , more instructions support, higher core count & requires HEDT motherboard
